Participants to be followed online during 24-hour Sail Race

To follow the 24 Hours on board and for the people at home and thus make it more attractive, but also to be able to quickly generate the results, we have been working for several years with an Online Declaration system for all participants. All participants record the buoys passed during the race or their trip so that the home front can also enjoy your performance. Through the website of the 24 Hours everyone can see the intermediate rankings and the sailed routes: Follow the 24 Hour Sailing Race – 24 Hour Sailing Race

For the participants: The online declaration system works very simply. Via a browser on mobile or PC, after rounding a buoy, you enter the name of the passed mark on the special web page and immediately see how many miles you have sailed up to that point. An overview map shows the route you sailed. In addition, there is an overview of all participants in your class. So you can see during the race how well you are doing compared to the others. Immediately after finishing and entering the final race data, the provisional results are available.

How are the participants feeling at 5 a.m.? Are they cold, is there wind or how is the race going? All questions that concern those back home. Although the race takes place out of sight on the water and the participants only become ‘visible’ when entering Medemblik, the organization tries to inform the home front as well as possible. Various reporters post their reports on our Facebook page.

Spectacular finish in Medemblik

While the sailors are busy with their final hours, supporters really shouldn’t miss the final miles of the race. Starting around 4 p.m., the horizon fills with hundreds of sails. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the finish lines open and the boats sail to Medemblik harbor. For all the elated sailors who walk into the harbor tired but satisfied, a sincere applause sounds from the quays. And again this year our announcer will be present at the harbor jetty, personally welcoming all finishers! Dweilorkesten provide extra fun on the shore. And in front of cafe Brakeboer it will be party time with a DJ and live music. In short, the finish off the coast of Medemblik is a party to experience. As the home front, don’t miss the entry. Make it a nice day out and discover the old Zuiderzee town of Medemblik.
